Positive Feedback
Today I visited Howden Junior School for the first time. It was a very rewarding experience. A month ago my co-director, Debbie Watson, delivered an inset day for the school which focused on the development of high quality handwriting and excellent presentation of work across the curriculum. Today I delivered a programme of demonstration handwriting lessons across the school, followed by an after school twilight session.
I received a warm, friendly welcome on arrival, which set the tone for the rest of the day. I was shown around the school by the deputy head teacher and was really impressed by the beautifully presented written work displayed. The way writing is highly visible gives it a high profile and shows that it is of high priority.
The headteacher is very āhands onā and an inspiration to the staff in his mission to drive up standards. I found all the staff to be highly committed and positive in their response and reaction to the training. In the short time since our first input, they have made great strides with the improvement of handwriting across the school.
The children are highly motivated by their teachers and show excellent attitudes to learning. The sky is the limit in terms of what they have the potential to achieve. Encouragingly, teachers are already looking at how to move forward after top quality handwriting is firmly embedded.
It was a great day. I really enjoyed chatting with the children and the teachers.
Itās rare a school is so well prepared and ready to ask such a variety of questions. Itās a 100% reading for pleasure school. I was hugely impressed.
Great to meet you on Tuesday, and thank you for an amazing day at Howden Junior School.
From the second I walked in, everyone made me feel incredibly welcome, and it was a genuine pleasure to lead workshops for such an engaged and interested group of children.
As a company, we look forward to returning to Howden Junior School very soon.
I just wanted to say I think youāve done a great job of keeping parents and the community informed and involved with everything at the School.
Dear Lee and staff
On behalf of all the staff and players at Doncaster Rovers Football Club, we wanted to thank you for all your efforts during COVID-19.
Your school has given the club backing for many years and we wanted to take this moment to return the favour and thank you for playing a vital role in supporting the community and educational activity during these unprecedented times.
The efforts of yourself and your colleagues at Howden Juniors have not gone unnoticed by staff at the football club and we would like to take this opportunity to pass on our appreciation for keeping the school open to provide education and support for children of key workers and also vulnerable children as well as providing resources for those being home schooled.
I would just like to take this opportunity to praise you and the school for how you have dealt with the ever changing pandemic. (As working at the *, i know first hand how many updates and new policies come through daily on the issue) I feel you have done amazing things for the community and continued to support my daughter with her learning in these challenging circumstances. And the communication has been brilliant, whether itās been from you personally or the teachers replying to any questions or help we have needed.
Dear Lee and staff
It has come to my attention that you have been providing tremendous support for the health and well-being of others during these extraordinary circumstances we are living in right now.
I would like to thank you personally for your help during these unprecedented times. I know your efforts are deeply appreciated by so many.
Hoping everyone stays healthy and that we all get through this time of uncertainty.
Thank you and best wishes.
We would like to personally thank you for the updates and your obvious passion for Howden Juniors, the children and the community. [pupil] has been kept busy she has loved baking, art work making Mothers day card for Nannies , writing letters to old peopleās homes for residents as well an engineering project her dad has set.
We came to an awards assembly in February for our daughter. Myself and my Husband could not believe the transformation in the school in a short space of time. It was amazing to see the children taking pride in their work. We were astounded on how well behaved all the children were and how nicely they all sat compared to in the past when we have been awards assembly in previous years. We loved the drum roll and the fact that all the children were excited and joined. What a huge difference the Bruno Marrs song ācount on meā has made, itās a perfect song all about friendship. It was also great to hear all the children singing when entering and leaving the assembly with happy smiling faces which gave a huge sense of pride and achievement busing around which we have not seen before.
We where both so impressed on how the school has improved since September 2019, which is down to Mr Hill, his team and all the children, all we can say is WOWā¦ā¦..
Iād like to thank you and all Year 4 for the invitation to the Egyptian workshop today.
All of your students were so polite and well mannered and put all their effort into showcasing their work.
My daughter always speaks very highly of her teacher, and the student presentation of themselves and their work today is a testament to your dedication to their education.
Teachers do not always get the gratitude from parents they so deserve, so I would just like to remind you all, that you are appreciated and I am so very proud of all my daughter is achieving through your efforts.
