Sport is a high priority at Howden Junior School. We are part of the East Yorkshire School Sports Partnership and enter inter-school competitions and festivals arranged by a School Games Organiser as part of this. We also enter a team in the Cluster Football and Netball Leagues, a squad in the School Swimming Gala and different year groups in county run cricket, rugby competitions, beachball/dodgeball competitions, regional dance competitions.
Our Sports Clubs mostly run for a term at a time. Some concentrate on preparation for upcoming competitions, but in others, the change is designed to target pupils of differing ages and give them the opportunity to experience our enrichment curriculum.
Like all primary schools, we receive funding to improve our sports provision: please see our Sports Premium page for more information.Â
Our newly-appointed Playground Leaders are currently receiving training to run lunchtime sporting activities.
